Information
on Seizures
The Epilepsy
Foundation of America
provides information on seizure disorders.
The Ketogenic
Diet. If all other
causes have been ruled out, and your child
still has uncontrollable seizures, this is another
option. This site has information on the diet, as
well as the Charlie Foundation which promotes
awareness of the diet. Great links!
Other
Frequently Overlooked Causes of Seizures
What is a Urea
Cycle Disorder? Urea Cycle Disorders can be
"late-onset" and may present with seizures.
Pyridoxine Dependency (PD). This has a list of links for PD and
infantile spasms. There is a link to an eGroups
discussion board on PD as well. PD is another cause
of seizures, one that requires the use of Vitamin B6
for control. Includes links to other families dealing
with PD also.
Biotinidase
Deficiency is another
possible causes of seizures. Requires adding Biotin
to the diet. May include hair loss, skin disorders,
and a mildly elevated ammonia level (in the blood).
